Keen to catch the best bream

Did you know that up to one thousand keen anglers descend upon the townships of Nicholson, Swan Reach and Johnsonville each year for the Twin Rivers Bream Classic? Entering it’s 21st year in 2017, the Bream Classic, held on the 15th and 16th of July this year adds a lure category and several new children’s categories. Held on the Tambo, Mitchell and Nicholson Rivers, there is many a prime fishing spot to be found. A busy schedule for the weekend long event includes accommodation check in and registration at The Black Stump in Johnsonville, The Nicholson Hotel, Hills Marine in Paynesville and Bairnsdale Bait Supply on the Friday. Saturday sees the competition commence at 6.00am(with last minute registration available until 9am) Hot food and refreshments will be available in Johnsonville for Saturday afternoon with a casual dinner and live entertainment at the Nicholson Hotel on Saturday night with host/ MC Jason Kennedy. Sunday again kicks off the contest from 6.00am with live entertainment, major prize winner announcements, food trucks, presentations and more. Who will win the major prize of a Jeep Renegade?This will be one of the most fun events on the East Gippsland calendar this year, so come and join in the festivities. If you’re a keen fisherman, you will be amongst some of the best enthusiast anglers in Australia and could take home some great prizes.
