No Excuses! Latrobe Valley


We would like you to join us on Saturday 4th of March at the Sound Shell in Victory Park, Traralgon, for a family friendly musical event featuring No Excuses! Latrobe Valley Chorus, Men Aloud! Mens Chorus, Street Beat Youth Percussion Group and No Excuses! School Children’s Choir, in conjunction with the Latrobe Valley Community Choir, winner of the Australia Day award for the “Event of the Year 2017” for last years “Latrobe Valley Street Requiem”.

The event is generously sponsored by several groups including Latrobe City Council, Engie, Berry Street, Quantum Support Services, Victoria Police, Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assult, Tint-a-Car, Doc Shop, FMC Mediation and Councilling, Rotary Club of Traralgon, Melina Bath M.P, Scout Club Traralgon and Uniting Care Gippsland.

Presented by The School of Hard Knocks and Latrobe Valley Community Choir, No Excuses! Latrobe Valley aims to bring the Latrobe Valley community together through music performance and to help build awareness of issues around family violence in a supportive and creative environment.

The School of Hard Knocks initially formed in Sydney 2001, commencing with a choir comprised of homeless and disadvantaged people called the Sydney Street Choir. A Melbourne group was soon to follow and now the group supports choirs and performances in regional areas also.

If you are interested in participating on the night in the women’s, men’s or children’s choirs or with the youth percussion group, registration is $50 which is only to cover the performance night, the music and the rehearsals/ workshops.

Upcoming rehearsals for the Women’s Choir are from 1pm to 4pm and Men’s Choir are from 1:30pm to 4:30pm on11, 18 and 25 February at Moe Town Hall, Albert St, Moe.

For the Street Beat percussion program, rehearsals are every Wednesday starting from 8 February to 1 March. From 4pm at Berry Street, 37 Elgin Street, Morwell. All welcome. Latrobe Valley Community Choir is a very fun and inclusive group, featuring people of all ages and types from all walks of life. Always on the lookout for new members, anybody is welcome to join. No auditions are necessary! All are welcome and bring along your friends. The workshops and rehearsals will offer an opportunity to learn more about your voice, have a laugh and improve your confidence. Families/Groups are also welcome. A great way to sing your heart out, socialise and have some fun, whilst supporting some great causes and putting on some great shows to boot!
