The Beginning of an Era for Morwell Dance Studio

Jaz Flowers has recently begun to take over the teaching and coaching role left open by her mother, Vicki Flowers, who is also an accomplished performance arts mentor.

Much like her daughter Jaz, Vicki Flowers was herself also a young performing prodigy, among many, many awards winning the Eltham Sun Ballet Cup at the age of just 15, the most prestigious award at that time for ballerinas. Through hard work and the help of a business contact, she opened her own performing school at the ripe old age of 16. Her students have since gone on and found great success nationally and beyond with former students becoming professional Theatre Choreographers, Actors, Models, Opera Singers, Musical Directors, performing in Europe and Asia and some going on to open their own schools and studios. Very much a family affair, Vicki was greatly supported over the years by her husband, Colin, her own mother and her sisters, Sally and Robyn. Continuing this tradition, Vicki’s Dancing Academy now lives on through the next generation as Jaz Flowers Performing Arts.

Jaz has consistently performed in roles to critical acclaim, notably the lead role in Hairspray, winning a Sydney Theatre Award for Best Performance by and Actress in a Musical and a role as Mabel in Fame the Musical, winning a Helpmann Award nomination for Best Supporting Female Actor. Recently she was nominated for yet another Sydney Theatre Award for her performance in Heathers the Musical. Other Australian production credits include, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Cabaret, We Will Rock You and Shane Warne the Musical. Multitalented as she is, Jaz has previously been chosen to perform the National Anthem at Rod Laver Arena for the Australian Open Grand Final repeating this also for the State of Origin at Suncorp Stadium. After performing as a contestant on The Voice, Jaz was also awarded a spot with Grammy Award winner Keith Urban’s vocal team. Internationally, Jaz has worked in London’s famed West End with theatre writer Scott Alan and scored herself a role in the BBC production of Kiss Me Kate at The Royal Albert Hall, televised on Christmas Day in the UK. As a student or currently working performer, you could not be in more experienced hands than with Jaz Flowers Performing Arts.
