The Ted Basarke Mercy Foundation Inc. is a charitable organisation operating in the Latrobe Valley. The foundation recognises the very important role of companion pets in promoting human health and wellbeing, and social inclusion. Through its fund raising efforts the foundation assists owners who are financially vulnerable by subsidising veterinary care.
On the third Sunday of the month, a leisurely walk is held on the Moe-Yallourn Rail Trail starting at 9.30am from the rotunda in the Moe Botanical Gardens (near the tennis club). Access is via Botanic Drive which is left from Dinwoodie Drive.
The walk offers a great opportunity for social interaction of owners and dogs alike and proceeds along the trail to Old Sale Road, before returning to the gardens. This is a 3km round trip, however participants can choose the distance they wish to cover and walk at their own pace. Refreshments are provided at the conclusion of the walk. Owners are responsible for their own pet and must be in control of their animal at all times.
Everyone is welcome to attend with or without pets. A gold coin donation is requested and this goes directly towards the foundation. The next walk is to be held on Sunday 19th March.
