CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.
About Department
The Oncology Department is an 8-chair day oncology unit, staffed Monday to Thursday, and delivers a wide range of treatments including intravenous chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood products. A clinical nurse consultant clinic also operates out the Oncology Department to deliver education, pre-treatment reviews, urgent symptoms review, advice and care to patients.
As well as a medical oncologist on site one day per week and a visiting haematologist 3 times a month, we partner with Gippsland Cancer Care Centre based at Latrobe Regional Hospital.
About the Role
This position will provide, oversee and co-ordinate the delivery of chemotherapy services and patient management to the Oncology Department, supporting the Vision, Values and Objectives of Central Gippsland Health Service. This will occur with the principles of care coordination, where patients and clients have access a highly coordinated health care and community support system. It requires alignment of approaches and a strong philosophy of person centred care.
