Your new role
The Generalist Counsellor provides counselling and facilitates therapeutic group work for men, women and children who voluntarily access the service within the Inner Gippsland region. The Counsellor will undertake appropriate assessments of consumers throughout the duration of their engagement to ensure that their support needs are met. The Counsellor will also assist with referrals to relevant support services such as housing, financial counselling, integrated family services and family violence support services.

Your skills and experience
You will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant tertiary qualification in social work, counselling or a related discipline.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated experience in delivering counselling services and therapeutic support to men, women and/or children
- Previous experience in developing and facilitating group work programs
- Knowledge of a range of theoretical frameworks relevant to working with children, young people and families
- Well-developed risk assessment and safety planning skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
