PURPOSE
The All-Abilities Hospitality Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering inclusive hospitality education programs tailored to individuals with diverse abilities. This role focuses on creating an accessible learning environment that supports students in acquiring practical skills and knowledge related to the hospitality industry. The All-Abilities Hospitality Teacher plays a crucial role in fostering an inclusive atmosphere, ensuring that students of all abilities can thrive and succeed in the classroom and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
1. Session Development:
- Develop course content (session plans) that is not only informative but also engaging and accessible for all learners.
- Pay special attention to making the course content captivating and relevant to ensure sustained interest, particularly for individuals with disability.
- Deliver engaging face-to-face sessions over 4 terms, comprising a mix of discussion, group work, running community cafes, worksheets, and hands-on skill development.
- Integrate inclusive teaching methods and strategies to engage students and promote a positive learning experience.
- Assist in developing the session plans in line with the ACFE funding requirements.
2. Instruction and Delivery:
- Provide effective and accessible instruction in various aspects of hospitality, including food preparation, customer service, and basic business skills.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
3. Individualised Support:
- Identify and address the unique needs of each student, providing additional support and accommodations as necessary.
- Collaborate with support staff to enhance the overall learning experience.
4. Assessment and Feedback:
- Develop fair and inclusive assessment methods that accurately measure student progress.
- Provide constructive feedback to students, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
5. Inclusive Classroom Management:
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture where diversity is celebrated, and all students feel valued.
6. Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the Manager and Program Coordinator to create the best outcomes for students
Continuous Improvement:
- Have an end-of-term meeting with the House Manager for feedback, review and course improvement, and planning for the next term delivery.
- Actively contribute to ongoing course development and enhancement.
Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching hospitality or a related field, with a focus on inclusive education.
- Knowledge of adaptive technologies and teaching methods for students with diverse abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Supervisor food handler certificate.
- Working with Children's Check
- First Aid Certificate
- Police Check
