2025 Review: Why Gippsland Deserves Its Own Job Website

For Employers Published on December 16

Well, folks, we made it. The year 2025 is in the rear view mirror, and if we do say so ourselves, it was a cracker of a year for gippslander.com.au.

We started this platform with a pretty simple (and slightly stubborn) belief: Gippsland deserves its own job website.

We were tired of seeing local businesses get fleeced by the exorbitant fees of national job websites. We were even more tired of the "Social Media Algorithm Roulette," where your job ad might be seen by 5,000 people, or it might be seen by three bots and your Aunt Sheryl.

And don’t get us started on the search results. Before we came along, typing "Jobs in Gippsland" into the big sites usually returned results for Melbourne CBD or the Mornington Peninsula. Let’s be real—if you live in Moe, a daily commute to Mornington isn’t a "job opportunity," it’s a road trip.

The Numbers That Matter

We’ve been grinding hard this year to make sure local jobs stay local. And the proof is in the pudding (or the parma, depending on your pub of choice).

Here is what Gippsland Power looked like in 2025:

  • 54,069 Job Views: Locals looking for their next big break.
  • 4,582 Job Applications: This is the number that gets us. That’s potentially 4,582 interviews, career changes, and livelihoods supported right here in our region.

Where Everyone Wants to Be

It seems everyone was looking for work in the "Big Five" this year. Our most searched locations were:

  1. Traralgon
  2. Warragul
  3. Bairnsdale
  4. Morwell
  5. Moe

And what were they looking to do? We saw a massive mix of skilled locals and eager workers, but the top categories that kept us on our toes:

  1. Retail & Hospitality
  2. Admin & Support
  3. Construction & Trades
  4. Community & Social Services
  5. Transport & Logistics

More Than Just a Website

We didn’t just hide behind our keyboards this year. We got our boots on the ground (and on the airwaves).

We shook hands until our wrists hurt at Council-run job expos, putting faces to names and connecting directly with the community. We also appeared on the ABC and other media outlets, banging the drum for job growth in our region.

And who could forget our ad campaign on Radio 3GG? The response has been incredible—and we’re relieved to report that we haven’t had too many noise complaints about our jingle yet! It might be a little corny, but it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to: getting local jobs into the ears of locals.

We are also chuffed to announce our partnership with the Inverloch Tourism Association, integrating our job feeds directly onto their website. It’s all about helping local businesses find the people they need to keep the tourists happy and the coffees pouring.

The Heart of It All

Jokes aside, it genuinely warms our hearts to do what we do. Every time a local employer fills a shift without paying a fortune in fees, and every time a job seeker finds a role that lets them work close to home, we do a little happy dance.

We love this region. We love the resilience, the community spirit, and the fact that we can build something world-class right here in our own backyard.

Bring on 2026

We aren’t slowing down. 2026 is going to be exciting. We will keep refining, keep promoting, and keep up the grind to ensure Gippsland remains the best place to live and work.

Thank you for trusting us with your careers and your businesses. 💚
