The Role
Our Morwell site is located about 150km east of Melbourne, manufacturing a large range of products in yoghurt and dairy desserts including brands such as Farmers Union, Dairy Farmers and Yoplait. Operating 24 hours a day, six days a week across 9 lines the site is highly automated and is the largest yoghurt facility in Australia.
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Automation Engineer to join the Engineering & Reliability team. You will report to the Automation Leader looking after all the automation and OT systems. You will provide technical expertise to support manufacturing, quality, maintenance, capital projects and continuous improvement activities.
Previous experience in Dairy or Food Manufacturing is necessary to be able to hit the ground running.
Over the next five years, our site has lots of exciting new projects and improvements happening for us to continue being a leader in Yogurt manufacturing in Victoria. You must be a highly motivated, self-driven individual with the ability to prioritise and problem-solve. This role also has an afterhours on call roster once you are up to speed.
Responsibilities
Provide specialist technical support for manufacturing as required
Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects using automation to improve production capability and reliability
Implementation of automation/SCADA/MES/HMI projects and/or specify a scope of works to be implemented by external contractors
Design, implementation and validation of PLC, SCADA, HMI & MES software changes that are required for the automated plant processes
Provide high quality technical documentation for system design, functional specifications, reports, change management, testing & commissioning
Assist & mentor production team members to better understand the automation controls & impacts
About you
Extensive experience within dairy industry or food processing, preferable within the Dairy Industry or other Food Processing Industries
High level of PLC programming expertise (and ideally familiar with Omron, Allen Bradley) and understanding of Proficy Batch (S88)
High level of expertise in SCADA/HMI/MES development & configuration (Proficy iFIX, Omron, Rockwell & Ignition)
High level of IT skills to support and further develop Manufacturing Information Systems (MIS) (and ideally familiar with Proficy Historian, SEEQ, Ignition and underpinning IT technologies)
IT technologies (Windows desktop/server Operating Systems, SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, Active Directory, Internet Information Server, Excel, VBA, Ethernet networks)
