About this Program
A key recommendation from the Royal Commission emphasised the crucial role of families and carers in not only caring for their loved ones, but also in the overall functioning and sustainability of the mental health system.
The Mental Health & Wellbeing Connect forms a vital component of the integrated services provided in the reformed Mental Health and Wellbeing system in Victoria. Services will be provided primarily by a team of individuals with personal experience as carers, and will offer support to families, carers, kin, and supporters of individuals facing mental health challenges, psychological distress, mental illness, or substance use concerns.
About the Opportunity
As the Volunteer Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to recruit and oversee our team of Volunteers as well as provide support to Family and Peer Workers who support families, carers and loved ones to establish community inclusion, helping to create more welcoming spaces in the community and supporting people to increase their sense of belonging within the community.
With the guidance and support of the Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for recruitment, training, supervision and support the team.
This role will see you supporting volunteers and support the initial introduction between volunteers, carers and families and work with them to ensure appropriate and tailored support is offered. We are looking for a warm-hearted individual who shares our passion for making a difference in the everyday lives of carers, who is an experienced people manager who can inspire and be inspired by our dedicated team of local area champions to ensure they are fully equipped to deliver the best quality service to those in our care.
You will also need:
- Personal lived experience of caring for someone with mental health challenges or psychosocial distress and recovery
- Certificate IV in social science or related discipline
- Current valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake travel for the role
- Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Right to Work within Australia
- Satisfactory National Police Records Check (less than 12 months old)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
