The Opportunity
Berry Street provides kinship care services to children and their families in the Gippsland region. Kinship Care is the care provided to a child or sibling group by their extended family or friends when they are unable to be cared for by their own parents.
This kinship program provides case management and case work service to statutory kinship care placements to support and assist kinship carers to provide the best possible care to children living in kinship care.
Key Responsibilities
The Team Leader takes primary responsibility for the delivery of the service undertaken by the Kinship Care team, including contract compliance, program performance and continuous quality improvement. The role will provide supervision, monitor the workloads and individual performance of a team of Case Managers and may hold a small case load from time to time if required.
About You
You will have a sophisticated understanding of the inter-generational factors and the complexity of the kinship care service system including issues involved in providing services to statutory clients, engaging effectively with individuals and families that may be unwilling to receive services, and inter-relationships between extended family members that can promote and impede their capacity to collaboratively provide good care of a child.
Experience providing supervision and the ability to make timely, sound decisions about interventions required, and consult for the purposes of assessment and decision-making in the best interests of the children is a requirement of this role.
To be considered for this role you must have a Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology or another relevant field and experience engaging with high risk adolescents and their families.
