The Maintenance and Grounds Person at Tanjil South Primary School is responsible for maintaining the school grounds, buildings, and facilities to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This role requires sound judgement, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to perform a variety of hands-on maintenance, repair, and general duties across the school.
Responsibilities
- Undertake minor building repairs and general maintenance (e.g., carpentry, painting, plumbing tasks
- Maintain school grounds including lawn mowing, weeding, and general landscaping
- Assist with manual handling tasks, deliveries, moving furniture, and setting up for school events
- Monitor and report any safety hazards or maintenance needs
- Ensure compliance with OHS and relevant safety standards
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers when required
- Maintain maintenance logs and records as directed
Selection Criteria
KSC1 Demonstrated experience in building or grounds maintenance, repair, or related trades.
KSC2 A strong work ethic, eye for detail and a sense of pride in efficiently completing work to a high standard as well as the ability to work independently and to follow instructions
KSC3 Sound understanding of OHS standards and maintenance procedures in a school setting.
KSC4 Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and contractors.
KSC5 Commitment to child safety and the values of a government school environment
This is a part time roll at 7.6 hours per week. Day and time of working hours may be flexible as negotiated with the Principal.
