Practice support & governance
- Lead critical inquiry into risk, safety, stability and development, ensuring plans align with legislative and best practice requirements
- Provide expert case advice on complex presentations; lead case reviews and reflective practice to embed evidence informed approaches (e.g. person-centred and trauma-informed practice)
- Champion person-centred active support and Positive Behaviour Support principles appropriate to disability and family contexts
Complex case consultation, risk & safeguarding
- Provide high level consultation on risk assessment/management and escalation; contribute to quality case planning and review processes
- Ensure practice is culturally safe and inclusive, and promotes participation of people we support and families/guardians in decisions in a human rights based framework
Quality practiceaudits & continuous improvement
- Conduct practice audits and translate findings into improvement plans and targeted coaching
- Maintain systems that support service and quality standards, targets and compliance; monitor and report on outcomes
People leadership & capability building
- Design and deliver professional development, mentoring and coaching to lift capability at all levels; foster a culture of reflective practice and high expectations
- Model collaborative, empowering leadership that brings out the best in multidisciplinary teams
- Analyse current practice, identifying trends and gaps in services, to determine areas for potential capability uplift.
- Partner with and foster a culture of alignment with outcomes teams to build internal capability in person centred active support, positive behaviour support, and human rights principlesappropriate to working with people with disability.
Stakeholder, community & internal customer engagement
- Build purposeful relationships with internal teams and external partners; represent Melba at sector forums and stakeholder meetings
- Support end-to-end internal customer experience (from enquiry to exit) by collaborating on service design, timely responses and fit-for-purpose supports that align with NDIS funding and pricing arrangements
Data, reporting & insights
- Use data and case insights to inform service improvements; prepare concise reports and evaluations for governance and decision-making
Your Background (Skills and attributes)
- Highly desirable relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Special Education, or related human services/behavioural sciences is required or working towards the achievement of tertiary qualification.
- Practice expertise across disability services including risk assessment, safety planning and complex casework; strong trauma‑informed lens
- Quality & compliance mindset (audits, case reviews, improvement planning, reporting)
- Capability building: proven training, coaching and mentoring skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in leading and developing multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high-performance cultures.
- Stakeholder engagement & internal customer focus; collaborates with partners; supports end‑to‑end internal customer journey and service quality
- Communication & influence: excellent written/verbal skills; facilitation of reflective practice; ability to negotiate and exercise influence
- Values alignment: human‑rights centred, respectful, collaborative, culturally safe and inclusive
- Desirable- Post‑graduate training in disability, trauma‑informed practice, PBS or related clinical frameworks
- Legislative & Framework Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Vic) and the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, with practical application in service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organisational and systemic change that fosters inclusive, responsive cultures and enhances the rights, inclusion, and quality of life for people with disability.
Requirements
- A current NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Check.
- The ability and relevant driver’s license to perform travel and work a variety of shifts, including weekends. Position may also require working active nights.
- Compliance with OHS&W regulations, legislation, and Policies and Procedures is required.
- Successful completion of pre-employment safety screening checks, mandatory training, and their subsequent renewals is necessary.
Occupation Health Safety and Wellbeing (OHS&W)
- Take reasonable care for their health, safety, and wellbeing and that of others.
- Observe safe systems of work.
- Follow OHS&W policies and procedures.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents in accordance with the agreed incident reporting system.
- Contribute to a positive culture in relation to OHS&W and participate in consultative structures.
