Shape regional advocacy | Build influential partnerships | Make an impact in Gippsland

Help shape Gippsland’s future through advocacy, partnerships and regional influence.

Bring your stakeholder engagement, advocacy and communications experience to a role connecting government, industry, business and community around Gippsland’s priorities.

Committee for Gippsland is seeking a Stakeholder Engagement & Communications Manager. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board, you’ll strengthen partnerships, support member engagement and turn complex regional issues into clear advocacy and communications.

About Committee for Gippsland

Committee for Gippsland is an apolitical, not-for-profit organisation providing an influential voice for the region. Its evidence-based, member-driven approach supports government policy outcomes and Gippsland’s long-term prosperity.

Its agenda spans investment, industry development, energy transition, offshore wind, freight, infrastructure, workforce development and major regional projects. It also delivers the Gippsland Community Leadership Program and co-chairs the Gippsland Offshore Wind Alliance.

About the role

In this broad, visible role, you’ll connect regional stakeholders with decision-makers, identify emerging priorities and strengthen the organisation’s profile. Your responsibilities include:

·      Build trusted partnerships across government, industry, business, local government, education and community, including engagement with Ministers, MPs, departments and agencies.

·      Identify emerging policy and regional issues, and develop advocacy priorities, submissions, briefing papers and presentations.

·      Grow member engagement, participation, retention and recruitment through collaboration, newsletters, advocacy updates and briefings.

·      Deliver strategic communications, including media releases, opinion pieces, website and social content.

·      Coordinate forums, policy roundtables, industry briefings, ministerial visits and member events.

·      Support stakeholder engagement for the Gippsland Community Leadership Program and represent the organisation at meetings and regional events as required.

About you

You’re a confident relationship builder who can engage senior stakeholders, bring people together and translate complex issues into clear, persuasive messages.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, partnerships, advocacy, government relations, public policy, economic development or a related area.

·      An ability to build productive cross-sector relationships, supported by strong influencing, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

·      An understanding of public policy processes and confidence working in an apolitical environment.

·      Strong writing skills across briefings, submissions and stakeholder communications, with experience in strategic communications, public affairs, media relations or reputation management.

  • Experience coordinating stakeholder forums, industry events or engagement initiatives.

·      Strong organisation and project management skills, with the flexibility to balance competing priorities in a small team.

Relevant qualifications in public policy, communications, government relations, business, economic development or public administration are well regarded; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Experience in an industry association, membership organisation, advocacy body, government or regional development setting is advantageous. Knowledge of Gippsland’s industries and economic landscape is highly regarded.

Why this role?

Make a visible regional impact in a small, influential organisation. You’ll have the opportunity to:

·      Shape regional advocacy and contribute to practical outcomes on issues that matter to Gippsland.

·      Build influential partnerships with senior leaders across government, industry, business and community.

·      Connect people and opportunities across investment, infrastructure, workforce and industry development.
