The Role
Our Morwell site is located about 150km east of Melbourne, manufacturing a large range of products in yoghurt and dairy desserts including brands such as Farmers Union, Dairy Farmers and Yoplait. Operating 24 hours a day, six days a week across 9 lines the site is highly automated and is the largest yoghurt facility in Australia.
We are looking for someone who has an interest in food science and has drive to develop their skills and experience in this area. Ideally, someone with good problem-solving skills, happy to work independently and is keen to learn and grow in our technical team. This role also requires frequent testing and sampling of dairy products.
This is a casual role with variable hours and shift work. You will be given as much notice as possible for your upcoming shifts however you must be willing to work day shifts, night shifts, weekends & 12 hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct physical/chemical/microbial testing, recording & reporting of raw materials, in-process product, finish product & environmental monitoring
- Identify & report out of specification results, taking action following documented procedures
- Perform Record Control Verification, identifying & reporting non-conformance
- Conduct product release & coordinate return of non-conforming product from external warehouse
- Maintain & drive improvements in Good Laboratory Practice
About you
- Qualifications or working towards qualifications in Food Science or Science related field
- Understanding of food safety & quality management systems
- Strong attention to detail and the flexibility to adapt to a changing environment; with ability to engage with all levels of the business, from external stakeholders, leaders to operators
- Well-developed laboratory practices – emphasis on high proficiency and accuracy
- Strong time management, prioritisation skills and Intermediate level computer skills essential
