Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children who are impacted by or at risk of family and domestic violence. Salvos offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and referral services with a focus on prevention, restoration, and healing that addresses immediate safety issues that assist the recovery journey.
About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to support the in the delivery of high quality, safe and effective family violence and child well-being responses to those seeking support, safety, and recovery.
The Specialist Family Violence Practitioner stands at the front line of hope and healing. It is more than just case management—it is a powerful act of walking beside women and children who have been silenced, offering them a voice, safety, and the chance to rebuild their lives with dignity. This role is about restoring trust, fostering resilience, and making sure no woman or child faces this journey alone. This role will have its challenges however high rewards are guaranteed.
Reporting to your Team Leader, this is a Permanent, Full-time, position based in Wonthaggi, Victoria .
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 5 – 6 (pending qualifications and experience)
You will successfully
- Provide compassionate support and guidance on alcohol, drugs, and addictions to families of young people in the care hub program.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with young people and families through inclusive, family-led interventions.
- Collaborate closely with consortium partners, including Aboriginal services, to ensure culturally safe and empowering care.
- Navigate and connect families to tailored AOD services, delivering evidence-based, person-centered treatment within a recovery-focused framework.
- Commit to ongoing learning, teamwork, and reflective practice to continuously enhance outcomes and support across the multidisciplinary team.
You will have
- A tertiary qualification inSocial Work, Psychology or equivalent field isessential
- Experience working in the family violence sector (Desirable).
- Demonstrated case management experience and skills
- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
- The willingness to undergo a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
- A Victorian Drivers licence
