Organisational Profile
GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based on Gunaikurnai Country in Bairnsdale, Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not for Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC is a child safe agency and has a zero tolerance of abuse or neglect of children and young people.
Position Purpose
The Maintenance Worker provides high quality general maintenance services and gardening services in and around GEGAC properties. The team also provides high quality support to Elder & Disability clients through the client package programs run by the Elders portfolio.
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture with the ability to liaise with and support the local Community.
- Fit individual capable of doing outdoor work.
- Ability to use skills to maintain plant machinery in good condition.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with team members and clients.
- Ability to work unsupervised completing tasks in a timely and safe manner.
- Ability to problem solve and provide feedback to team members.
- Ability to be flexible in approach to daily work activities.
- Commitment to and willingness to participate in continuing training and education related to area of employment.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
- Driver licence ESSENTIAL
- Trade Qualification DESIRABLE
- A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background ESSENTIAL (This is identified as Special Measure position.)
- A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
