Winemaker / Brewer

Gurneys Cider is a family-owned cidery on a hillside just outside Foster, with views over Wilsons Promontory. We make traditional, small batch cider using fruit from our own heritage orchard, and we're looking for a skilled, quality-focused winemaker or brewer to join our cellar and production team.

The role
This is a hands-on role at the heart of how our cider is crafted, packaged and quality checked.

What we're looking for
We welcome applicants from diverse commercial fermentation and packaging backgrounds. You'll bring practical experience in at least two of these areas:

• Packaging: operating commercial canning or bottling lines, including double seam teardowns, seam adjustments and routine line maintenance

• Cellar and fermentation: commercial experience running wine vintages, or managing cellar operations in a brewery or cidery

• Equipment: operating and maintaining fruit presses, positive displacement pumps and centrifugal transfer pumps

• Sanitation: strong working knowledge of CIP, chemical handling safety and vessel hygiene

• Lab and QC: a qualification in oenology, brewing, food or biological science (or a related field), or equivalent practical experience with standard lab QC testing

• Records and compliance: strong attention to detail and a track record of keeping accurate production logs, cellar records and traceability data

Why Gurneys

• Full time role paying $75k to $85k a year

• Small batch production with fruit from our own heritage orchard and an underground cellar

• A hardworking team with a real passion for the craft

• A stunning hillside setting overlooking Wilsons Promontory
