Maintenance Officer / Handyman
The Wonthaggi Workers Club is one of the most loved venues in town — a proper local institution. And you're the person who keeps it running. If something's broken, you fix it. If something looks tired, you sort it out. If a tradie's coming in, you're the one meeting them at the door.
This is a hands-on role at one of Wonthaggi's busiest venues. You'll look after the buildings, the grounds, the equipment — basically everything that makes the club feel the way it should for the members and guests who've been walking through those doors for years. No two days look the same, and that's what makes it a good gig.
What you'll be doing
Day to day, you'll handle general repairs and maintenance across the venue — inside and out. That includes the gardens, car parks, service areas, fixtures, and fittings. You'll keep on top of preventative maintenance schedules while also jumping on urgent jobs when they come up.
You'll do basic plumbing work, help with stock deliveries and manual handling tasks, and make sure cleaning and presentation standards are where they need to be. When external trades or contractors are on-site, you're the go-to person coordinating the work.
What you'll bring
Experience in commercial building or facilities maintenance is a must. You know your way around tools, plant, and equipment, and you take safety seriously. A current Victorian driver's licence is essential.
You're the kind of person who sees a problem and just gets on with it — no hand-holding needed. You take pride in how a place looks and runs, and you're comfortable managing your own priorities day to day.
A trade qualification is a bonus but not a dealbreaker. Basic computer skills and decent written communication round things out.
Why the Workers Club?
You're not maintaining some faceless building. This is a venue people genuinely love — a place that matters to the community. Steady full-time work, real autonomy, and the kind of role where you can take proper pride in what you do. The team's supportive, the expectations are clear, and you'll see the results of your work every single day.
